New House!

Hey Everyone!  We got the keys to our new house last week and are already busy with tons of different things to get it ready.

We are beyond blessed to have this house and can't wait to move in.  But before we do there are some things to get done first, mainly in the kitchen.  When we first walked in, we were like "woah, these cabinets are worse then we thought!!!".

We started calling contractors and going to Home Depot and Lowes to look at appliances.  Then we slowed down and I'm like, "it's ok, I'm Crafty Echo, I can do anything!".  I'm sure our checkbooks are thanking us for now.  We're going to paint all of the insides white, possibly put contact paper down.  And then the drawers are all going to get new drawer slides.  Since it seems they're all falling out.

The outsides of the cabinets and drawers are all going to be painted a medium gray that goes well with the countertop.  One thing that we had to get new was a new refrigerator.  We ordered the GE Slate French Door Refrigerator.  Until it gets here I've got to bust out this kitchen renovation to be ready for it, so stay tuned for that!  Maybe next year we'll be able to save up for the rest of the appliances.

We're replacing lights in a few of the rooms, such as in Turin's room.  It has this cool looking but not practical light in his room (I keep hitting my head on it).  We're putting a simple flush mount ceiling light up in it's place.

The floors were cleaned the day we got the keys.  The perfectionist/OCDish part of me had to go over all the little details and clean the WHOLE place.  In doing so, you notice all the little imperfections.  But amazingly they're almost all little things easily fixed.  A little grout here, a little paint here, and viola, done.  And a lot is our personal preference and how we like things.  When Josh was at the house for the walk through, the previous homeowners explained why part of the wall near the playroom was still under construction.  They were going to open up the wall so there wouldn't be a awkward little hallway.  Well duh, why didn't we think of that.  So we've had a contractor come to give us an estimate and hopefully we'll hear back from them soon.

I'm about to start painting the cabinets soon, so cross your fingers that goes well!

Before this post gets too long, I'll end it here.  I'll keep you posted on how the kitchen is coming and always remember to have fun!
