Prettying the Baseboards

Hey Everyone!  Are you getting pumped for the 3rd bedroom reveal?  It's coming!  The construction is finally over!  Two and a half months of chaos is over.  Now it's time for the minor details.  The handles are being shipped, I'm still searching for a new light fixture for the small indent and did I mention the holidays are coming?  It's time to get this Crafty Echo back on track with some craftiness!

One of the things I did to finish off the basement is to pretty up the baseboards.  When we built the walls we chose a composite trim.  It's not wood, it just has the look of it.  It's not plastic either, it's some kind of composite.  Anyhoot, we are not master carpenters and were unfortunately using a simple miter box.  They really only work well if you have them screwed into something.  And even then you still have to put muscle behind it.  Here is an example of what a portion of it looked like before.

Awful right?  But I have a trick!  By using a caulk gun, a caulk tool (optional), and some white caulk I made it pretty.  Place a bead of caulk along the top of the trim and in any joints.  Smooth out with either your finger or a caulk tool.  And PRESTO, a pretty baseboard.  Doesn't it look so much better?

Caulk is a cheap and effective tool for so many things!  I love the results on this one.  Can't wait to share with you the rest of the room.  Nycki keeps saying "this is amazing!".  Love her!

Have fun!
