Soffits Are Built

Hey Everyone!  After 3 long weeks, the soffits are built!  Thank goodness this part is finally over.  It was hard due to our time constrictions.  Some things I just couldn't do by myself.  We worked hard and got it done.  I couldn't have done it without this amazing man, I love him!

We made several soffit ladders and then made braces connecting them or braces to the wall.

This is the view from the front of the room at the front of the house.  In the back is the closet on the left.  My craft desk is on the right.

There are two 8 foot soffit ladders along the soffit on the right.  This one "indented" section is about 7 1/2 feet by 16 1/2 feet.  We found a 71 inch, 8 head flexible track lighting to put in this space.  It should really brighten up the space compared to the one light in the ceiling and the light stand we have in the room now.

This is the section over by craft closet.  It's 50 inches by 71 inches.  Not very big, but not too small.  We're just going to put a basic ceiling light up in this section.

This is the view from the back of the room.  It's a big space, which is good since it has so many hats (office, playroom, craft room, sewing room, guest room).  The soffits come down kind of low.  But we're not very tall people, so it doesn't matter much for us.  The reason they had to come down so low was because of the new flexible ducts that were installed with our new central heating.  You can see in the picture below how we had to push up the ducting just a little bit.  It's still working, but if we pushed it up any more then it wouldn't.

What do you think?  Next up is drywall...

Have fun!
